Professional objectors… good or bad for class actions?

Here is a recent article regarding a professional objector.   I suspect there are heated opinions on this practice.

I welcome your thoughts on this practice and what can be done during settlement negotiations to help reduce the chances that a legitimate objector will be able to stop a settlement from receiving final approval.

It is important to note that decisions made during settlement negotiations often impact participation rates.  And the impact is not due solely to the value of benefits negotiated for class members.  As described in The Four Factors article (click here to request a free copy), knowing what factors impact participation rates may help the parties reach as settlement that will be less likely to be contested by objectors.
